Work

I have always been a chemistry girl. In middle school, I wrote an essay about an ancient Chinese poem, not of its literary beauty but of its coincidental interpretation into a few chemical reactions regarding limestone. Naturally, I chose chemistry for my college major and master’s degree. The master’s dissertation project led me to choose pharmaceutical science over chemistry for my PhD program. Following the rotation at the beginning of the PhD program, I chose a neuropharmacology lab with a focus on pain research, not because it would give me a good job after graduation or it was using the cutting-edge technology, but only because the science interested me the most. The rest was history and now I am a pain girl.

There was a time I wondered if I had changed my directions too many times, and it might make me weak in every direction. But now I believe changes like that can make you stronger overtime, especially because you go wherever science leads.
